jonny was playing this on the tour bus two nights ago and it stopped me in my tracks. not only because of it’s greatness but also because i was sure i’d heard a cover of it before. i could of sworn teenage fanclub did it at a gig a while back (i’ve seen them many times so it could have been on any occasion) but i can’t find their version or even anything to confirm they ever even did a version of it on the net. this version too though is a cover of a jim pepper song and that too was a reinterpretation of a native american tribal song. a fascinating journey this song has had.
i’d been struggling with music in recent weeks. it’s a hard thing to admit for someone who listens to and loves so much music but something has been missing from me in the last while, maybe the will to search, and this song reawakened it in me and shook the life back in. i woke up the day after jonny had played it feeling lighter and happier and dived (dove?) back into music (and everything) with aplomb. funny to lose, even for a week; a second; an instant, the thing you love the most. but, in the words of my favourite ever song - re:stacks by bon over - “it’s hard to find it when you knew it”. but also when we do find it again it comes back stronger. more colourful. even more perfect. i’ve fallen in love again. there will be many more posts in the next while. in the last few days i have renewed my quest for everything.
peace, love and understanding.gL
oh, just remembered, it was future pilot aka that did the cover. thank god! that was bugging me.x
I have found again the music in me which was gone for a while, from different reasons, when I saw SP-live for the first time as a support group on U2 concert in Croatia. As if I had a close encounter with pure energy and joy. That was the moment of surrender. That’s why I love them so much. xx a.
well it seems our time with the dolphins in dubai has caused some controversy. for those that don’t know, tom, rico, pabs and me swam with the dolphins in the waterpark at the hotel in dubai. there are pictures on line of a (seemingly) very happy pabs and me with a dolphin. but pictures can be…
